NOCTURN brings to life a ground-breaking touring installation work ANTIDOTE, which blends dance and public art in an interactive ‘edge of your seat’ tale, focused on the impact of fake news on today’s society.
We are seeking public spaces and heritage settings alongside more traditional arts venues in a drive to bring dance to new audiences, and dance audiences to new spaces, through technical innovation and contemporary themes.
This is your opportunity to be part of our Arts Council funding bid for this innovative community engagement digital arts project, which brings together our 10 years of experimentation and experience, in one UK rural touring production.
“The seamless fusion of dance and digital is beautiful and inspiring.”
Grant Brisland, Co-Director CORN EXCHANGE & NEW GREENHAM ARTS
ANTIDOTE has been developed in partnership with Childnet, an organisation committed to making the Internet safer for children, and Greyworld, experts in playful public art. Our other venue partners include The Corn Exchange, Newbury, as part of the launch of the new arts and crafts centre, The Base.
How can we believe what we see is fact and not fiction?
ANTIDOTE allows the public to engage with your venue in two key ways: virtually through their phones and in real life by visiting the two-week installation.
On their phones
Using the simple idea of SMS, harnessed by the web, a thrilling edge of your seat adventure unravels on your phone. By simply tapping a ‘NEXT’ button on screen, the public explores our gripping tale by merging text and powerful dance video content, by four professional dancers. The climax is something they can experience on their phones and in the real world.
In real life
A two meter, dark and foreboding loom thrusts it’s malicious tendrils out of the space connecting with our world. On first inspection, only an undulating mass of blackness of lies and deceit can be seen. However, hidden deep within is a beautiful, intricate tapestry of miniature people, constantly moving and reminding us what truth is. For the public to break the hold of the darkness they need to work together, holding their phones close to the surface will peel away the lies, revealing the moving tapestry beneath.

Why programme ANTIDOTE?
· A digital arts project engaging new audiences with your venue, in new ways.
· Wrap-around education projects using dance and art form a unique way to approach increasing participants understanding of meaning and truth online, and being safe in that context.
· A multi-arts partnership and creative opportunity for your organisation to engage with contemporary social issues in innovative ways.
· A chance to pilot a new marketing approach using interactive narrative, resulting in a case study and learning outcomes made available to all host venues.
The cost for the installation, including our engagement opportunities, start at £2,500 ranging up to £6,00 for large scale organisations.
A two-day intensive workshop for schools or community groups, developed with Childnet research, which has filmed outcomes. These films are then included in the cumulative loom tapestry video bank.
