Summer Dance Workshops - Sonia Rafferty

Four Saturdays. Four leading dance artists. For adult dancers, of all abilities!

For the first time this summer, NOCTURN brings you a range of one off weekend workshops, delivered by some of the top professional dancers from across the UK. 

Explore the vast landscape of contemporary dance from Limón to Contact work in these fun 'must try' workshops for adults. 

 

Course times: 

2 – 5pm – Mixed ability class

Saturday 28 July – Sonia Rafferty

Sonia's dynamic class focuses on the idea of flow. The progressive technical material builds towards dynamic, lyrical and expressive sequences that are designed to challenge.

 

£15 per workshop

 

Venue:  ACE Space, St. Nicholas Road, Newbury RG14 5PR. There is NO PARKING at the venue; we kindly ask users to park in the council owned car parks.

Sonia Rafferty

Sonia is Senior Lecturer at TrinityLaban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, as well as a freelance teacher, performer, choreographer, director, mentor, researcher and author. She regularly delivers master classes and workshops and frequently leads class or provides professional development for a wide range of companies. Over the last thirty years, Sonia has developed her personal philosophy of technical teaching, which is heavily influenced by Limón principles. 

As an MSc Dance Science graduate, Sonia also uses her physiological and psychological knowledge to underpin her approach. She has been active in the development of dance-specific fitness work, and has published writing and research. Sonia is also a consultant in safe dance practice, co-founder of Safe in Dance International (SiDI) and co-author of a recently published book “Safe Dance Practice: An Applied Dance Science Perspective”.
