Recruiting for new workshop leaders starting in January

We’re hiring!

NOCTURN is looking for freelance dance practitioners, in and around West Berkshire, with a contemporary dance background, who are excited about working with older adults.

Due to the success of Dare to Dance, a weekly adult dance workshop for the over 55s, in partnership with Corn Exchange, Newbury we are expanding. Supported by John Darvell, you will deliver a new Monday morning 1.5hr class starting 14th January using our fun methods while still giving space to make the sessions your own.

Our workshops provide a quality balanced approach to community dance focusing participants in doing, learning and being challenged, all in a safe space that encourages joyous laughter.

Are you someone who can model a constant energy within sessions, taking time to listen and notice the needs and capabilities of the group? Are you willing to use the space in a non-hierarchical way, taking time for individuals, while still giving participants a quality dance experience?

  • We’d love to hear from people who are:

  • Person-centred

  • Accepting

  • Natural listeners

  • Used to noticing

  • Able to challenge in a kind and fun way

Yes, you should have some dance experience, although past experience of working within this age group is not required as support and guidance will be given.  We actively welcome applications from people from a diverse range of background with reference to race, religion, gender, and sexuality. We are particularly keen to support people who can’t fully commit to the freelance way of life but do have some regular spare time. We also encourage applications from men.

Although in the first instance this is for a specific project we are hoping to grow our outreach work, giving more opportunities for freelancers as we expand.

  • Freelance contract is for the Spring term, with potential for extending.

  • Please have a current DBS, although we will do our own.
